Walking Plazas in commercial areas

Aurangabad, Nov 26:

The municipal commissioner Astik Kumar Pandey today suggested the expert''s committee to undertake micro-planning so as to develop walking plazas in the city''s crowded places like Gulmandi, Paithan Gate and Cannaught Place (Cidco).

Pandey also informed to plan so as to arrange facility of parking vehicles on open spaces in different parts of the city.

It may be noted that the civic chief has appointed a committee comprising experts and technical advisors to develop parking zones in all nine zones in the jurisdiction. Accordingly, the committee held a meeting today at Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Research Centre. The civic chief and other key officers of AMC were present in the meeting.

The meeting recommended parking of heavy motor vehicles on the open ground near Jaffar Gate, excluding Sunday, as the bazaar is held here. The civic chief also suggested the members for spot inspection of a closed AMC school in the vicinity, before demolishing it to develop a parking bay.
